Navitas Vehicle Systems Inc, of Waterloo, Ontario was established in 1990 as SRE Controls. We design, manufacture and market high performance microprocessor-based electronic control systems and accessories for a wide variety of electric vehicles (EVs).

Our products and integrated systems are used in battery- and alternative-powered vehicles. These EVs include industrial and commercial vehicles such as forklift trucks, aerial platforms (scissors and booms), airport ground support equipment, ice re-surfacers, golf carts, scooters, bikes, scrubbers and sweepers.

We develop customized designs specifically for large, medium and small original equipment manufacturers. We also produce patented controller products and software algorithms, as well as a complete offering of electrical drive components. The most prominent of our patents is "Synchronous Rectification" which facilitates the technique of switching a secondary bank of MOSFETs (metal oxide field effect transistors) to reduce power loss in the controller when the motor speed is less than 100%. This extends the life of motors, batteries and contactors.

Over the last decade the rapidly growing EV market has been extremely successful in developing and exploiting new technology. This has resulted in a significant decrease in the number of internal combustion engine vehicles on the industrial market.
