Brushless DC Controls (BLDC)

Our BLDC Controllers have been designed to offer the smoothest performance of any traction controller in the electric vehicle market. This is achieved through our unique motor control algorithms. The power ranges from 800Watt to 2.5Kw at 24V to 80V. The controller can be used in traction applications as well as other uses like steering pumps and accessory drive applications.


Traction applications

We achieve the smoothest possible drive control by using sinusoidal commutation. Most traction controllers use trapezoidal commutation which cannot offer the same smooth control. The main advantage of using sinusoidal commutation is you can produce motion that is smooth and does not create “cogging”. Cogging is generally associated with trapezoidal commutation sometimes called six-step. These effects are particularly pronounced at low speed which is were you need the smooth control in a traction application. By eliminating cogging your efficiency increases as the power is used efficiently.


The advancement of magnet technology has allowed BLDC technology to be used in larger motors that are needed in the EV industry. BLDC offers some great advantages over all other motors technologies available today. These advantages include greater efficiency, torque and reliability. The reliability is achieved because there are no parts that need to touch for the motors to operate.

  4. Rotor to wheel and Stator to drive shaft, low weight rotor is the only thing that needs to be spun making it more efficient.

  5. Perm magnets mean more torques and less power needed from the batteries making it more efficient.

  6. Better speed control because back EMF counteracts the magnetic fields of the PM magnets.
